I've loaded up the tape deck, rewound my old mixtapes, searched through my 7" and 12" records, dusted off the CD collection and turned the volume up on the boombox.
You'll often find me listening to music while I'm working and I love making playlists for the studio. Much like giving a playlist a name, it's always a fun challenge to come up with collection names and titles for Coletta on Paper.

The titles for the Vintage Sole Lovers art prints, are all happily influenced by the records my Dad would listen to at home or the cassettes he would play in the car (70s & 80s disco, funk & soul), songs I'd taped from the radio in my teenage years (90s acid jazz, nu soul, garage) to my daughter's current chart bops.

When I began naming the disco portraits, the first song that came to mind was, You Spin Me Round (Like A Record) by Dead Or Alive. An 80s earworm from my childhood. It seem to fit with the image of shoes rotating around a disco ball.
From that moment on, whenever I was thinking of a title, all I could hear were the songs I'd grown up with. High on nostalgia, it's an eclectic compilation but each song brings a happy music flashback and inspiration for naming an art print.

My favourite songs on the playlist are Seal's A Kiss From A Rose, just a great voice and song.
Yazz's The Only Way Is Up. I always thought she looked so cool on Top of the Pops with her cropped bleach hair, cropped bomber jackets and cropped jeans.
Cherelle's Saturday Love because I remember my Dad playing it in the car and thinking, hmmm, I really like this song too but not saying because it was my Dad's music and I couldn't admit to liking it!
Jaki Graham's Step Right Up which I still have on a cassette from a recording off the radio in the 80s.
